Shooting For the Stars

Recently we had to do away with a couple of Cyprus pines on the property. At over a century old, they were looking pretty scruffy and leaning dangerously toward property assets. The resulting bonfire was spectacular though, held at dusk on a beautifully clear night. The backhoe sits where the trees once stood and would have risen just above the middle of the frame.

I had wanted to do this next shot for a long time and finally conditions were perfect; the right equipment, right weather conditions and time to apply myself. Having said that though it actually took three attempts to get it right, but thankfully the weather kept giving me opportunities to try. This shearing shed has been used by the family for over fifty years and is probably at the end of its practical life, but now immortalised, it will live on in our memories forever.
